PALMTOPS FOR STUDENT PROJECTS

Classrooms are taking to going digital more than ever, with teachers finding newer ways to being innovative to keep the students engaged. Students respond as "duck taking to water" with anything digital and so use of FREEWRITE a basic word processor to be used with a palmtop and a keyboard makes any collaborative project interesting for students. Reading and writing skills improve as they write more and read more and correct spellings and grammatical errors.

HOW TO COPE WITH EXAMS?

Exams being round the corner for most,I see many mothers more concerned about their children's performances than the children themselves. The happy go lucky attitude of the students can sometimes be misconstrued as "careless","not bothered",,etc.,...while the parents feel that they have done all they can in putting their children in good schools and colleges and also got them the best home tutor around.Tutorials obviously flourish because of the attitude of parents that they did not get the best and so they want their children to be given the best in education and everything else. They fail to understand why the marks are still not up to the mark.In the face of competition, every teacher and parent emphasize the need to score a 100%,not even 99.9%.
So,what does the harassed student do?Parents and teachers have the eternal bad habit of comparing a student with his siblings or peers saying,"Why can't you score like that?"
Every student is unique! The ability to grasp quickly,or understanding the concepts of math and science is different for everyone.A variety of factors come into play for this, most important among these being the genes inherited and proper nutrition in addition to a positive and healthy environment in which to study.
Parents and students have many questions regarding exams, revision, and methods of study. Many valuable suggestions in the form of videos are found here on videojug!

INTERNET SAFETY FOR CHILDREN

Parents are more concerned with the safety of their children when using the internet at home or in school.Majority of the parents find themselves sitting with their kids in their free time while on the net. But,how long can you baby sit a student who is online for his upcoming project. The minute you answer a phonecall or the door, the student is busy messaging away a friend,or updating his profile on social networking sites such as Orkut,Facebook,hi5.Schools and colleges are careful to bar all social networking websites and mail sites such as Google and Yahoo and IM services such as Skype.
But the parent and teacher can equip themselves with the knowledge of internet services most relevant to them and the safety of their children. And communicate with them in the right and most effective manner.Keeping communication channels open with your children is the most important.

HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD ADAPT TO A NEW SCHOOL

Growing up has its challenges but when a student has to change schools it can be tough on them. Most often, children change schools when parents are transferred to a different locality or city. They could also be relocating to a different country. The transition between schools can be stressful if the curriculum is also different. But,the worst of all challenges comes when a decision has to be made regarding the choice of a second language if the child is not familiar with the languages being offered for study.
Parents need to make themselves available and helping their child in adapting to the new neighbourhood particularly the new school. Students generally adapt very well to new surroundings if they do not have overbearing parents.

WORKING MOTHER SPENDS ONLY 30 MINUTES WITH CHILDREN A DAY

How much time does a working mother spend with her children on an average? This news item caught my attention since recently another survey conducted among the under 35 working women stated that most preferred career progress to having children. Today's woman certainly is more intelligent and is very much in control of who she is and what she can be. She is definitely economically independent and likes to live life on her own terms. Men think that women should be full time homemakers or work part time to take care of the kids. But, women do not want to stay home. Career is most important to them, although they feel very guilty about it, especially when the kids are ill or are at home for holidays. A school principal says that one of their students told her that he gets to speak to his other only on the ride to school every morning, since she is a doctor and is always very busy. Some mothers are lucky to have a mother or motherinlaw over, in times of need. Some trust their maid entirely to bring up their children. Still others engage governesses. Being nuclear families has its share of problems such as these. It is understandable when the principal of a reputed school says that children whose parents do not have time for them are the ones that have attitude problems and behavioural problems in addition to being either pushy or withdrawn. Not doing well in academics is common among such children. So, coming to the survey that was conducted among children and how much time their working mothers actually spent with them on an average was only 30 minutes. Now, is that some food for thought?
