Looking at the human body from all around in order to study the various body systems is helpful. Google Body Browser is still in the experimental stage as a Google Labs product. One can turn on the muscular system, nervous system, skeletal system, digestive system, circulatory system ,etc. or see a cross section with various systems in place. What is interesting is that students of Physiology and Anatomy can have a 360 degree view of the human body and this facilitates learning. Students of Medicine and Biology will find this extremely useful. Labels appear when a particular part of the body is clicked. In order for you to view and play on this Body Browser, you need to have the latest version of Google Chrome installed.
The video below shows you how the Google Body Browser can be used by students and teachers of Anatomy. Suggested Reading: Medical Training In Second Life Virtual Cell Animation Educational 3D Video Game To Learn Biology Animated Videos Of Human Body Systems
Biology is one subject that is interesting because it is a study of living organisms and that includes us. But, the school and college curriculum demands a set table of contents in a textbook format that not all students take to these days. With the advent of education technology, students are more likely to learn subjects the digital way, rather than the so called boring textbooks. The use of colorful diagrams to explain concepts and processes no longer stimulates interest in today's student. But, bearing in mind, the needs of the student, using a digital textbook adds a spark of interest in the subject, especially if it is a multimedia version complete with audios and videos showing processes being explained in 3 D. Now, would that not have made us learn faster when we were studying Sciences and Maths. Several video websites including youtube have a collection of some excellent tutorials for explaining various concepts, and some of them can be found here.
A non profit organisation, E O Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, named after the renowned naturalist and founder, is releasing a 59-part series on Biology - Life On Earth is a 59-Chapter Digital Textbook, to suit the school curriculum. As each chapter gets completed, it is available for anyone to download for free.
The first chapter,"Cell Division", will be available for download in a couple of weeks. Here is a preview of the video with interactive animations that will be an integral part of the text. K12 editions will remain free whereas the University-level edition will be up for sale at 10 % of the cost of an average print textbook, to fund the continuous updating.
The human body is a marvellous and complex maze of systems. Students have to understand thoroughly in order to do their exams well. The following is a collection of animated videos that help in understanding digestive system, nervous system, circulatory system, respiratory system, etc. This audiovisual aid cuts down your time in learning to understand. Students often have to learn complicated names, structures, diagrams of various systems that run our body. Here is a set of videos that I came across as I looked up www.you tube.com and there began my journey of finding animated videos to help any student or simply anyone learn about how systems in our bodies work. These certainly help one to understand better and remember for any upcoming test. It also saves on your study time!
